This is a rare and great vintage poster for P&O cruises promoting fortnightly sailings to Australia from London and Marseilles via Egypt and Ceylon.
The artist, Charles Edward Dixon, was a British maritime painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, whose work was highly successful and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy. He worked for many different shipping companies, designing posters for P & O Line, Aberdeen Line, the Red Star Line, the French Line, the Khedival Mail Line and the White Star Line.
