Clipper Line - Stella Polaris

Description:

A cool poster of the most famous cruise ship of the thirties, the inter war years, and probably in the history of cruising is the Stella Polaris. Stella Polaris, was delivered to Det Bergenske Dampskibsselskab (BDS) and completed in 1927, was the first custom built cruise ship. She was considered the “Royal Yacht” of cruising and was one of the most deluxe forms of ocean travel all the way into the 1960s. She was slod to The Clipper Line’s M.V. in 1951.

BDS had a tradition of naming their ships after objects in the night sky. Stella Polaris is the Latin name for the North Star, a star in the constellation Ursa Minor.

Stella Polaris was sold in 1951 to RED AB CLIPPER, Malmö (Einar Hansen).

The poster has some restored water damage and wear. Would look great framed. Mounted on linen.
