This exquisite Art Deco poster from 1920, crafted by Max Ponty, showcases the French Paquet shipping company, featuring a striking portrayal of the starboard side of the Maréchal Lyautey. The Maréchal-Lyautey, the inaugural screw-propelled vessel of the company, set sail in 1924, navigating routes from Marseille to Morocco, Senegal, and the Black Sea.
Established in 1863 as the Compagnie de Navigation Marocaine, the company initially conducted trade with Morocco before expanding its reach to the Canary Islands in 1868. Subsequently, routes were extended to the Levant and the Black Sea, leading to the company's renaming as the Compagnie de Navigation Arménienne et Marocaine in 1874.
This poster exudes timeless elegance and sophistication, mounted on linen with minor repairs at the margins. Despite light wear, its allure remains undiminished.
