This striking original 1937 German travel poster, designed by Lothar Heinemann, presents a powerful visual fusion of national identity and cultural pride. Titled "Deutschland – das Land der Musik" ("Germany – the Land of Music"), it was issued by the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr (RDV), the state railway travel office based in Berlin.
The design features a dramatic and stylized eagle — a traditional symbol of Germany — with an illuminated pipe organ at its center, merging two potent motifs: state power and the nation's rich musical heritage. The glowing organ pipes evoke Germany’s celebrated legacy in classical music, from Bach and Beethoven to Wagner, while the architectural composition adds a sense of grandeur and reverence.
This poster is in very good condition, showing only minor signs of age-related wear, including small pinholes in the corners, some water stains and crumble. A rare and captivating piece of pre-WWII European design history, it would make an impressive statement when professionally framed.
