This is an authentic 1917 Swedish lithographic poster created by Edvard Leon Welamson to promote Det Svenska Jordbrukets Dag (Swedish Agriculture Day), held on 29 July 1917. The event celebrated the importance of national farming and food production during a time of global uncertainty at the end of World War I.

The bold, modern composition features a Swedish farmer sharpening his scythe under a sweeping sky, with distant plough horses and barns symbolizing hard work and self-sufficiency. The message “Bröd och Arbete” (“Bread and Work”) emphasizes the essential link between labor and livelihood — a sentiment deeply resonant in early 20th-century Sweden.

Designed by Edvard Leon Welamson (1884–1972), one of Sweden’s early poster artists and illustrators, this work exemplifies the clean lines, flat colors, and geometric balance of early modernist design.
