A striking original SAS poster from the dawn of the Jet Age, designed by Staffan Wirén around 1959–60. The bold, geometric design highlights the sleek tailfin and livery of SAS’s new jet fleet, emphasizing modernity, speed, and technological progress. The dynamic use of color blocks and clean lines reflects mid-century modernist aesthetics, perfectly suited to the optimism of the era.
On April 26, 1959, SAS became the world’s first airline to put the French-built Sud Aviation Caravelle into regular service, inaugurating jet travel between Copenhagen and Beirut. The aircraft, named Finn Viking, marked a turning point in the history of international air travel.
The German text "Mit SAS ins Düsen-Zeitalter" ("Into the Jet Age with SAS") underscores the excitement of this revolutionary leap.
A rare and highly desirable poster, encapsulating the glamour and innovation of early jet travel.
