This is an authentic Italian travel poster from around 1928, promoting the Sanctuary of Oropa, one of Italy’s most famous pilgrimage destinations nestled in the Biella Alps of Piedmont. The poster beautifully depicts the Juvarra façade of the sanctuary, illuminated by warm sunlight against a dramatic alpine backdrop.
Designed by G. Bozzalla, the poster exemplifies the refined artistry of Italian lithography in the interwar period. It was issued jointly by ENIT (Ente Nazionale Italiano per il Turismo) and FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) to promote rail travel from Santhià (on the Turin–Milan line) to Biella, and from there by electric tramway to Oropa — a popular route for pilgrims and travelers seeking the beauty of the Italian Alps.
The poster is mounted on linen many years ago, showing small tears, minor creasing, and light staining mostly at the edges. The image area remains vibrant and well-preserved, making it an excellent example of early Italian travel promotion.
A rare and elegant piece of travel history, this poster would make a stunning framed display and is ideal for collectors of vintage Italian posters, religious tourism, or ENIT lithographs.
