Original concept sketch by Swedish artist Eric Rohman for the Swedish release poster of the American silent serial Around the World in 18 Days. Produced in 1923 and directed by B. Reeves Eason and Robert F. Hill, the serial was issued in twelve episodes and is now considered lost.
This sketch, prepared for the first installment titled Milliondollarvadet (The Wager), depicts a stylishly dressed man and woman seated atop a globe, their fashionable attire and romantic pose suggesting both modern adventure and cosmopolitan flair. The handwritten title and painterly strokes emphasize its status as a working design rather than a finished print.
Whether Rohman’s design was ultimately used for the printed poster remains uncertain, making this a rare and possibly unique surviving artifact from the early era of Swedish film advertising, tied to a lost American adventure classic.
Condition: Good. Handling wear, minor soiling and creases consistent with age.
