A striking and highly recognizable fashion advertising poster designed by Bernard Villemot for Bally, printed in 1982.
The poster perfectly demonstrates Villemot’s celebrated minimalist style. Against a deep black background, a seated blonde woman in a simple black dress is rendered with extraordinary economy of line and color. Her elongated figure, pale skin, and elegantly crossed legs direct all attention toward the stylish Bally shoes, highlighted in soft pink and white. The composition is both refined and playful, balancing glamour, fashion, and graphic simplicity with remarkable confidence.
Villemot masterfully reduced his subjects to bold shapes and carefully selected colors, creating instantly recognizable advertising images with enormous visual impact. His Bally posters are among his most iconic late works and remain highly sought after by collectors of fashion, advertising, and modern graphic design.
Bernard Villemot’s posters are often compared to those of earlier French masters such as A. M. Cassandre and Raymond Savignac, though his visual language remained entirely distinctive and unmistakably modern.
