This striking postwar aviation poster was designed by Olle Svensson for A.B. Aerotransport (ABA), Sweden's pioneering airline and predecessor of Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). Printed in 1947 by J. Olsens Lithografiska AB, Stockholm, it depicts a Douglas DC-4 flying across a dramatic sunset sky beside a series of flags representing ABA's expanding international route network.
The composition features the Swedish flag alongside the flags of Turkey and Iran, as well as the blue-and-white Zionist flag, which had been used by the Zionist movement since 1897 and was later adopted as the national flag of Israel in 1948. The bold colors, clean geometry, and streamlined aircraft perfectly capture the optimism of postwar commercial aviation and ABA's ambition to connect Sweden with an ever-growing network of international destinations.
Today, the poster stands as an outstanding example of Scandinavian aviation graphics from the immediate postwar period and an important piece of ABA history.
