This is an original vintage poster from 1945 promoting an art lottery to raise money for Bornholm that was heavily bombed in the last day of the WWII.
On May 7 and 8, Nexø and Rønne were bombarded by Soviet aircraft without warning. Ten Bornholmers and many more Germans lost their lives during the bombing.
The bombings were meaningless from a military point of view as Germany had surrendered on all fronts the night between 7 and 8 May. Danish radio was not broadcasting the bombing because of fear of spoiling the liberation festivities in Denmark.
In great condition mounted on linen.
