Airline/Aviation Travel |
This is a very rare original airline poster promoting travels to Norway by The Scandinavian Air Express.
The Scandinavian Air Express started in the late 1920s as a co-operation between KLM - Royal Dutch Airlines and ABA - AB Aerotransport for the service between Scandinavia-France and Scandinavia-UK, routed via the Netherlands. Through a co-operation between ABA and Aero O/Y the Scandinavian Air Express was later operated between Sweden and Finland as an extension. Over the years other airlines participated in the joint operations, but the service was discontinued when WW2 started.
The poster depicts a rendering of the Norwegian mountains by Kristen Holbø. Holbø was a Norwegian painter and illustrator, most noted for his landscapes. He often portrayed his home village and surrounding mountains of Gudbrandsdalen. As a landscape painter he described first and foremost his hometown, and also the mountainous area of Jotunheimen.
The poster has some signs of ageing and water stains. Mounted on linen with minor restaurations, Overall in very good condition.
