This poster is just stunning! An original vintage poster promoting DDL and DNL flights in Europe. The poster depicts wonderfully detailed a map of Europe. You see the Midnight Sun, Viking ship, Cruise ships in the Mediterranean, skiers, dancers, reindeer, polar bear, airplane, etc.
The map also depicts a route layout.
Text at top: "Avril 1940 Premiere defaite allemande infligée par le corps expeditionnaire Français".
The German invasion of Denmark and Norway was the on 9 April, 1940. 28th May a naval bombardment by the Royal Navy started against the German positions north of Narvik. Two French and one Norwegian battalion would be transported across the Rombaksfjord and advanced on Narvik from the North.
In the South, the Polish battalions advanced toward Ankenes and inner Beisfjord. The German commander decided to evacuate early in the morning and retire along Beisfjord.
The first major victory on land in the Second World War was a fact.
An extremely rare airline poster. Have never seen it before.
Corners has been restored. Great colors. Mounted on linen.
