This original vintage poster dates from 1944 and celebrates Svenska Flaggans Dag (Swedish Flag Day), which was observed annually on 6 June. Designed by the renowned Swedish painter and illustrator Anders Henschen, the bold imagery captures the national pride and spirit of wartime Sweden through a dynamic rendering of the blue and yellow flag.
Svenska Flaggans Dag was the precursor to what is now celebrated as the National Day of Sweden, officially renamed in 1983. These posters were issued annually throughout the 20th century, each year reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities and social mood of its time.
Condition: Almost good. Visible water staining, dirt, and general age wear, particularly around the edges and lower field. Despite these flaws, the vibrant design remains impactful and authentic—a rare and historical piece of Swedish design heritage. Hard to find!
