This extremely rare original vintage poster, issued in 1957, was created to promote Reumert Rasmussen’s color film and lecture titled "Mexicanos." Designed in a bold mid-century modern style, the image vividly reflects Rasmussen’s adventurous journey through Mexico, traveling from the south to the north.
The poster is saturated in rich tones of sunset orange and golden yellow, evoking the intense heat and dramatic landscapes of the Mexican desert. Framing the composition are stylized silhouettes of agave, saguaro cactus, and prickly pear, all outlined in deep maroon with vibrant turquoise highlights. The foreground plants open up to reveal a stunning view of a Mesoamerican pyramid, strongly resembling the Temple of Kukulcán at Chichen Itza, basking in the golden light beneath an expansive sky.
To the left edge of the poster is a vertical column of Aztec-style glyphs, reinforcing the theme of ancient cultural heritage. The bold geometric type at the top reads:
REUMERT RASMUSSENS FARVEFILM-FOREDRAG MEXICANOS
The poster is in very good condition, linen-mounted (an older preservation method), with colors still remarkably vibrant. It stands as both a promotional artifact and a striking piece of mid-20th century travel ephemera from one of Denmark's most celebrated explorers and educators.
