Original Danish public health poster warning against rat infestations, issued by the Landsudvalget for Rottebekæmpelse (National Committee for Rat Control), likely from the 1960s–70s.
The illustration shows a cut-open house teeming with rats: in the attic, cellar, living room, and even on the TV screen. A startled couple reacts in horror as rats invade every corner. The image humorously yet effectively conveys the urgency of reporting rat problems early.
The text reads:
»Du ku’da osse ha’ meldt det for længe siden!«
(“You could also have reported it a long time ago!”)
And below:
“Ser De blot skyggen af en rotte, så meld det omgående til kommunekontoret.”
(“If you so much as see the shadow of a rat, report it immediately to the municipal office.”)
The poster combines caricature-style humor with a serious health message, typical of mid-20th-century Danish public information campaigns.
