This is an authentic 1930 Scandinavian travel and film poster for Det Vackra Norge (Org: Norge, vårt Norge, i toner og billeder), a documentary-style production celebrating the dramatic landscapes of Norway. Issued by Svensk Filmindustri, the film was directed by Lyder Selvig with cinematography by Paul Berge, both pioneers in capturing the majesty of Nordic scenery on film.
The poster is a superb example of early 20th-century Scandinavian graphic design, signed “Håk..” (attributed to Håkansson). It showcases a modernist depiction of the Norwegian fjords: towering snow-capped mountains, sweeping valleys, and a steamship — likely the S/S Meteor or the S/S Stella Polaris, famous cruise liners that carried travelers through the fjords in the 1930s. Bold color contrasts in orange, green, grey, and deep blue create a striking composition typical of the golden age of travel posters.
Now nearly a century old, the poster remains in very good condition, with only minor wear consistent with its age. The colors are still vivid and would look absolutely stunning when professionally framed.
A rare and highly desirable collector’s item, this poster is perfect for enthusiasts of Nordic travel posters, early cruise ship history, and Scandinavian modernist design.
