This original vintage South Africa travel poster from the 1970s was published by SATOUR (South African Tourist Corporation) and features a striking photograph by John Da Silva of the remarkable Halfmens plant (Pachypodium namaquanum). Endemic to the arid landscapes of Namaqualand in northwestern South Africa and southern Namibia, the Halfmens ("half-human") is one of southern Africa's most unusual succulent species, named for its human-like silhouette.
Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, the poster showcases the unique beauty of South Africa's desert flora, highlighting a landscape far removed from the country's more familiar beaches and wildlife. It formed part of SATOUR's international campaign promoting the country's diverse natural attractions.
In excellent condition.
