SAS - North America

This original SAS North America travel poster from the 1950s, designed by Otto Nielsen (1916–2000), promotes flights to North America with Scandinavian Airlines System.

Nielsen depicts an American bison standing dramatically against a luminous, almost abstract landscape. A small SAS aircraft flies high above, a recurring feature in many of Otto Nielsen's celebrated destination posters for the airline. The powerful silhouette of the bison, combined with the expressive brushwork and atmospheric sky, evokes the vast open landscapes of the American West.

Otto Nielsen created some of the most distinctive travel posters for SAS during the 1950s and 1960s, often combining characteristic wildlife, landscapes and cultural motifs with a small aircraft in the sky. This striking North America design is a fine example of his painterly approach to airline advertising.

Condition: In excellent condition, with only some crumpling to the lower right corner.
