Køge

This original vintage Danish travel poster from ca. 1930 promotes Køge, the historic market town south of Copenhagen, with the slogan "Den gamle By ved den friske Strand" ("The old town by the fresh seaside"). It was designed by Danish artist Sven Henriksen (1890-1935).

Henriksen depicts a peaceful street in the old town, framed by mature trees and traditional half-timbered houses, with the distinctive tower of St. Nicolai Church rising in the background. The bold black border and vivid greens, reds and purples create a striking composition typical of Scandinavian travel advertising of the period.

The poster presents Køge as a destination combining a well-preserved historic town with its location by Køge Bay and the Danish coast. A charming and highly decorative example of early Danish tourism poster design by Sven Henriksen.

In very good condition with minimal tears and creasing in the margins.
