Norway for real trollidays!

This original vintage Norway travel poster from 1966 was designed by Norwegian artist and graphic designer Knut Yran (1920-1998) and published by the Norway Travel Association. Yran created several memorable Norwegian tourism posters, and this is one of his most playful designs.

The colorful illustration uses the Norwegian troll as its central theme, with a friendly, oversized troll striding through the mountain landscape carrying suitcases decorated with Norwegian flags. Perched on top of his head are a group of tourists enjoying some of Norway's attractions: sightseeing, photography, fishing and simply relaxing. The humorous slogan "Norway - for real trollidays!" plays on the country's famous troll folklore while presenting Norway as a fun and adventurous holiday destination.

A wonderfully cheerful and highly decorative example of 1960s Norwegian travel advertising by Knut Yran. This is a very rare poster that is seldom seen on the market.
