This is a striking and stylish original poster from the 1946 Swedish Speed Skating Championships (SM i Skridskolöpning) for seniors. Held at the iconic Zinkensdamms Idrottsplats, known locally as Zinken, this event drew large crowds in an era when speed skating enjoyed widespread popularity. Today, Zinken is better known as the home of Hammarby IF's bandy team.
The artwork captures the dynamic energy of a speed skater in mid-stride, illustrated in a bold and streamlined style that reflects the sporting aesthetic of the 1940s. The skater, dressed in a black skin-tight racing suit, leans into a powerful curve on the ice, his expression one of fierce concentration. The use of clean lines and motion blur emphasizes the speed and athleticism of the sport. The typography is clear and modernist, with warm red and blue tones accenting the event details.
Excellent vintage condition with strong colors, no major flaws or damage. A beautifully preserved example of Scandinavian sports graphic design from the mid-20th century.
