Lana is a town in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is situated in the Etschtal (Etsch Valley) between Bolzano and Merano and at the entrance to the Ultental.
Together with the Bolzano-Kohlern cable car, Lana's cable car leading up to the San Vigilio Mountain was one of the first passenger cable cars in the world. Although already planned in 1912 by the Lana engineer and cable car pioneer Luis Zuegg (1876 - 1955) the San Vigilio cable car was not finalised until 1916.
