This stunning Swiss poster depicts a powerful electrical locomotive pulling the carriages trough the Lötschberg Tunnel.
The Lötschberg Tunnel is a 14.6 km long railway tunnel on the Lötschberg Line, which connects Spiez and Brig at the northern end of the Simplon Tunnel cutting through the Alps from Switzerland to Italy. Regular service through the Lötschberg Tunnel began in 1913.
Colombi is well known for his Swiss Alps motives and belonged together with Emil Cardinaux to the pioneers of Swiss poster art.
The poster has some minor repairs, professionally mounted on linen with an acid free barrier for preservation.
