This is an original color lithograph poster designed by Enslin Du Plessis depicting the Llansteffan Castle in Wales. Llansteffan Castle is a castle overlooking the River Tywi as it enters Carmarthen Bay near the village of Llansteffan in Carmarthenshire.
The natural strength and strategic importance of this stunning location was recognized by the Norman invaders of Wales who established an earth-and-timber enclosure, or 'ringwork', within the ancient defenses of an Iron Age fort.
The painter Enslin Du Plessis was born in Standerton, Transvaal, Africa. He began painting seriously in 1928, but never received formal training. He became a well-known painter in London, and was awarded the SA Academy medal of honour for painting in 1972.
According to V&A's collections this poster is printed in 1932.
