ABA

This striking ABA (Aktiebolaget Aerotransport) poster celebrates Sweden's pioneering national airline, founded in 1924 and later incorporated into the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). The bold, minimalist design features the airline's initials rendered in large gradient lettering, with a small aircraft crossing the sky above. The aircraft depicted is identifiable as SE-BDD "Algaut Viking", a Douglas DC-6-477B Cloudmaster that served on ABA's international routes during the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Unlike most airline posters of the period, which focused on destinations or aircraft imagery, this design relies on strong typography and modern graphic simplicity, making it an unusual and highly distinctive example of Scandinavian aviation advertising. Posters of this type were produced in far smaller numbers than destination posters, and examples are rarely encountered today.

A remarkable piece of Swedish aviation history and one of the more elusive ABA posters. I have never seen another example of this design.

Condition: Very good condition with light age wear. An attractive and well-preserved example.
