This original vintage poster is very rare piece of history. A poster designed to promote “Norges Varemesse”. “Norges Varemesse” is a fair established in Norway in 1918 to boost trade after the WWI.
The fairs were in the beginning held annually and ambulated between Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger before Oslo became the permanent venue.
The design by Tandberg won the trade fair's poster competition in 1923 with over 150 drafts submitted. The poster depicts an old Viking ship with red and black striped sails. In the background a dark mountain with a rising sun. To the right a white waterfall with and red factory.
This poster is from 1935 when Trondheim was the fair venue. When Trondheim arranged the fair in 1941 a new competition was held for a new poster design.
In good condition mounted on linen.
