This is a striking and historically significant early SAS Scandinavian Airlines System travel poster, most likely dating to around 1946–1947. It showcases a beautifully stylized map of the globe, tracing SAS’s pioneering South American route from Scandinavia to Buenos Aires.
The route includes stops in: Stockholm – Copenhagen – Geneva – Lisbon – Dakar – Natal – Rio de Janeiro – Montevideo – Buenos Aires, illustrated by a red line curving across the globe.
At the center, a pair of golden wings with the intertwined national flags of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden form the original SAS logo — a hallmark of mid-century aviation design.
This poster was created by Allmänna Annonsbyrån AB, the Swedish advertising agency founded by Bengt Rumert, who also designed the first SAS logo. The same illustration was used on a 1947 SAS timetable, making this poster one of the very first promotional pieces ever issued by the airline.
Printed by Ljunglöfs Litografiska AB, Stockholm.
It remains in excellent condition, professionally mounted on linen, with vivid colors and minimal signs of age. A fantastic piece for collectors of early aviation, Scandinavian design, or global travel memorabilia.
