This is a stunning and very are original vintage travel poster issued by Kristiansands Dampskibsselskap (KDS) to promote their ferry line between Kristiansand, Norway to Hirtshals, Denmark. The text says 5 hours at sea, a sea journey with the MS Skagerak.
MS Skagerak was built in 1939 by Ålborg Værft A/S, Ålborg, Denmark. The ship has short time span in traffic as a passenger carrier. MS Skagerak was requisitioned by Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine in 1940 and used as mine laying ship. It was torpedoed and sunk in 1944 outside Egersund, Norway.
KDS was sold to Fred. Olsen & Co. in 1968.
This great poster by Gunnar Moum has elements of art deco style. A rare poster!
In overall very good condition. Light edge wear. Pinholes in corners. Mounted on linen.
