This vintage poster is an original issue from the Swedish Tourist Association, intended to promote the 1929 yearbook. Published between 1886 and 2013 by the Swedish Tourist Association, these yearbooks typically focused on various tourism-related themes each year.
This particular poster provides a visual guide to Norrbotten County, a county in northern Sweden. It borders the county of Västerbotten, as well as the province of Lapland in Finland and the counties of Nordland and Troms and Finnmark in Norway. Norrbotten County is the largest of the Swedish counties.
The poster's design comes from the skilled hand of Ossian Elgström, an artist who honed his craft at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts from 1906 to 1907. His artistic journey continued under the mentorship of Kristian Zahrtmann in 1907 and Christian Krohg in 1908. Elgström made significant contributions to renowned magazines such as Strix, Söndags-Nisse, and Puck. His work went beyond art, as he undertook expeditions to Siberia, Greenland, and Lappland to collect folkloristic material that enriched his books.
Although it bears some signs of minor wear and fold marks, this poster retains its overall good condition, making it a noteworthy addition for collectors and enthusiasts.
