Description:

This original vintage poster was released by the Lithuanian Railways during the interwar period when Kaunas assumed the role of Lithuania's temporary capital due to the occupation of Vilnius by Poland between 1920 and 1939. Kaunas stands as Lithuania's second-largest city, following Vilnius, and serves as a pivotal hub for the nation's economic, academic, and cultural pursuits.

The poster showcases an elevated depiction of Kaunas, highlighting prominent landmarks such as the Vytautas Church, Kaunas Town Hall, and various cultural buildings.

Kaunas's interwar architecture is an outstanding representation of European Art Deco, earning it the European Heritage Label. It played a pivotal role in Kaunas becoming the first UNESCO City of Design in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2023, Kaunas achieved World Heritage Site status, distinguished as the sole European city showcasing extensive interwar urbanization and diverse modernist architecture.

It is a highly sought-after and rare collectible in good condition. Thumbtack marks in margins.
