This original vintage poster was released to promote the Swedish National Debt Office savings bonds, aimed at fulfilling the government's borrowing requirements.
During World War II, the imperative to bolster government borrowing was paramount. Beyond funding defense modernization, these loans sought to encourage public savings. The National Debt Office initiated three defense loans spanning from 1940 to 1942.
Structured as savings bonds, these loans were available in denominations of 20, 40, and 80 kronor, with redemption slated for no later than six years, coupled with augmented nominal amounts through added interest.
The poster, in excellent condition, serves as both a historical artifact and a testament to the wartime financial initiatives encouraging public participation in supporting the government's needs.
