This is a delightful original vintage poster promoting the 1949 Swedish Industries Fair at The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. The poster features a picturesque scene of the harbor of Gothenburg, with the prominent statue "Woman by the Sea," also known as the Sailor's Wife, sculpted by Ivar Johnsson. This iconic statue graces Sjömanstornet at the Maritime Museum Akvariet in Gothenburg.
During the early 20th century, various Swedish companies organized fairs to showcase the country's industrial prowess. This led to the conception of a dedicated congress center, culminating in the opening of the official Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre on 8 July 1918.
In very good condition, this poster exhibits minor wear and pinholes, adding to its vintage charm and historical significance.
