This is an exceptionally rare original vintage poster promoting the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1938, which took place in Lahti, Finland (Lahdessa). Lahti had previously hosted the championships in 1926, making this event a significant return to the city’s renowned skiing grounds. This is the second official poster created for the event.
The poster features a striking close-up of a male skier in action, depicted in a bold, streamlined Art Deco style. His determined expression and dynamic posture convey speed and excitement. He wears a dark blue ski outfit with a white bib displaying the number 7. A white headband covers his ears, and he firmly grips a ski pole, emphasizing motion and athleticism. The background transitions from light gray to white, drawing attention to the skier. At the top, "F.I.S." is prominently displayed in large white letters, while the event details are written in bold black typography at the bottom.
This poster is in excellent condition, professionally mounted on linen with an acid free barrier for preservation. There are minor horizontal creases in the title but no major flaws, making it a well-preserved example of Nordic skiing history and Art Deco sports design.
