Railroad Travel |
A rare and striking original Danish State Railways travel poster by Aage Rasmussen, promoting the Grossenbrode–Gedser ferry connection. The bold composition shows a DSB train boarding a ferry, with cars alongside, emphasizing modern postwar travel across land and sea.
The Grossenbrode–Gedser ferry line (1951–1963) linked Germany and Denmark in the years before the Vogelfluglinie (Bird Flight Line) via Puttgarden was completed. Because this route was relatively short-lived, surviving posters are scarce, making this an especially desirable collector’s piece.
Artist note: achieved international recognition with his “Lyntoget 120” (1937) poster for DSB, a classic of European poster art. His work is characterized by strong perspective, dramatic scale, and vibrant colors that highlight the dynamism of modern transport.
Condition: Very good. Light margin wear. Tiny tears.
