Description:

This is an authentic official sports poster issued for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, part of the celebrated series in which the Olympic Committee commissioned artists from around the world to interpret different sporting events in their own visual language.

This striking poster was designed by Ancent Soi, a renowned Kenyan painter born in 1937 in Mbiuni Kwa Mutula Village, Machakos County. Soi’s art often reflects East African life and culture, and here he brings a vibrant, rhythmic energy to the theme of a children’s running race. The scene features young runners and cheering children rendered in bold colors against a brilliant yellow background, creating a sense of joy, movement, and warmth.

Text appears across the top in Swahili, English, and French:

Mathauma Olimpiki Muniki 1972

Olympic Games Munich 1972

Jeux Olympiques Munich 1972

Dates: 26.8 – 10.9

A wonderful example of the international artistic spirit that defined the Munich ’72 visual identity.

A vibrant and highly collectible Olympic poster from one of Africa’s most respected modern artists.
