A striking and highly recognizable fashion advertising poster designed by Bernard Villemot for Bally, printed in 1989. Villemot was one of the great masters of twentieth-century poster art and is especially celebrated for his elegant, minimalist advertising designs created for major European brands.
The composition is classic Villemot: bold areas of red and black, simplified forms, and a sense of effortless movement. A stylized female figure in a polka-dot dress is depicted kicking a blue ball, her bright yellow Bally shoe becoming the focal point of the design. The playful motion and dramatic contrast between the black and red background create a dynamic and instantly memorable image that combines fashion, sport, and modern glamour.
Bernard Villemot’s posters are often compared to those of earlier French masters such as Cassandre and Savignac, yet his visual language remained uniquely his own. Rather than relying on detailed realism, he distilled fashion and luxury into powerful graphic symbols with extraordinary decorative impact. His work for Bally became especially iconic and remains highly sought after by collectors of fashion, advertising, and modern graphic design.
