This original advertising poster promotes D.D. Rhovylène, a French brand of quality socks and stockings. Signed GAD, the playful design shows a father and child striding confidently through the rain, dressed almost entirely in bright red with contrasting blue footwear.
The slogan “Bon pied bon œil” – roughly “fit and alert” or “in fine form” – accompanies words emphasizing the qualities of the company's hosiery, including chaudes, solides, irrétrécissables and infeutrables: warm, durable, shrink-resistant and resistant to felting.
With its bold typography, simplified figures and limited palette of red, grey and blue, the poster has a particularly appealing mid-century French advertising character.
Condition: In excellent condition. Professionally mounted on linen with an acid-free barrier for preservation.
