This original Italian travel poster from 1941 promotes Pesaro, the Adriatic seaside resort in the Marche region of central Italy. The poster was designed by Italian artist Luigi Piffero (1907–1978).
A smiling woman in a fashionable bathing suit and large sun hat dominates the composition, with the colourful beach resorts of the Pesaro seafront stretching into the distance and Monte San Bartolo rising beyond. The slogan “Pesaro – La vostra spiaggia” (“Pesaro – Your Beach”) captures the sunny optimism of Italian seaside tourism.
Piffero's strong colours, simplified forms and dynamic composition make this a particularly attractive example of pre-war Italian tourism advertising and a wonderful image of Adriatic beach culture.
Condition: Mounted on linen. Trimmed at the bottom. Otherwise presents very well.
