This original vintage French travel poster from 1952 promotes Auvergne and travel by the French National Railroads (SNCF). Designed by Grégoire, it belongs to the striking "Visit France" series encouraging international visitors to discover France by train and motor coach.

The composition cleverly frames the landscape through a railway carriage window, giving the viewer the impression of seeing Auvergne directly from the train. A historic church dominates the scene, surrounded by the mountainous, volcanic landscape for which this region of central France is famous.

With its deep blue background, strong architectural forms and bold yellow typography, this is an attractive example of post-war French railway and tourism advertising.

In good condition with a mended tear at top and bottom along with small tears in the margins and light overall age wear.
