SM Skidor 1957 Malung

This original vintage Swedish ski poster from 1957 advertises the Swedish National Ski Championships (SM på skidor), held in Malung from 4 to 10 March 1957. Designed by Swedish artist Gösta Almqvist, the poster features a striking and imaginative composition celebrating the excitement of competitive Nordic skiing.

The colorful illustration shows a close-up of a skier's legs, traditional leather ski boots and wooden skis, with a ski pole planted in the snow. In the background, a Swedish flag flutters above a snowy landscape, while smaller skiers race across the slopes. The bold lettering and dynamic perspective create a wonderful sense of movement, capturing the atmosphere of Swedish winter sports in the 1950s.

Malung is located in Dalarna County, Sweden, and is the administrative centre of Malung-Sälen Municipality. The region has a long tradition of skiing and outdoor recreation, making it a fitting location for the Swedish National Ski Championships.

A colorful and highly decorative example of 1950s Scandinavian ski and winter sports advertising by Gösta Almqvist. The poster is in great condition, ready to frame, and would look wonderful on the wall of a ski lodge or mountain cabin.
