Alan Durman was an artist and photographer born in Weymouth, Dorset. Self-trained as a painter he worked early in his career as a window display artist in London before World War II.

Notes: trained as a photographer; worked in window display and at the Imperial Tobacco Company as artist and photographer; worked for Mardon, Son and Hall, Bristol, the printer and packaging manufacturer; WW2 - served as an officer in the RASC; mural artist; produced posters for British Railways, (Southern and Western Regions) and the Eastern National coach company, active in 1950s-60s.
