The Bergen Steamship Company (BDS), was founded in 1851 by Michael Krohn. The company funnel was black with three widely spaced narrow white bands. The company is well known for their passenger traffic between Bergen and Newcastle.
This poster is stunning. Artwork by famous Harry Hudson Rodmell. The poster is not dated but appears in BDS's 1948 calendar. MS Venus reappeared on the service in 1948 after being discovered sunk in Hamburg harbour in 1945 and judged capable of rebuilding.
An extremely rare poster! Mounted on linen with some repairs.
