A stunning original vintage poster designed by Elcock to promote Interlaken, Switzerland as a summer destination. The poster depicts some happy tourists having a wonderful picnic with majestic snowcapped mountain peaks, probably the Jungfrau in the background.
Howard K. Elcock was born in Glasgow, Scottland. He worked for The Strand Magazine, Illustrated London News and Punch. He also designed posters for the Underground Group between 1928 and 1931, and posters for Shell and the LNER (London & North Eastern Railway) during the 1920s.
Some foxing at lower right, otherwise in great condition.
