Description:

This trendsetting poster by Emil Cardinaux was created as part of a comission by the Zermatt Tourist office to create an advertisement for the ski resort of Zermatt. It marks a turning point in the young illustrator's career. With this poster, Emil Cardinaux created the first "modern" tourism poster.

The Bernese painter Emile Cardinaux was inspired by Ferdinand Hodler in creating this poster. An icon of poster advertising and very sought after.

The village of Zermatt lies right under the shadows of the Matterhorn. It's probably best known as a platform for skiing and mountaineering, especially on the mountain which towers above the village.

In excellent condition. Mounted on linen.
