Original authentic DNL poster designed by Gunnar Moum, depicting a majestic wood grouse perched in a Norwegian winter landscape while a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster—the long-range four-engine aircraft operated by DNL in the late 1940s—flies above. The DC-4, with its characteristic rounded nose and four-engine silhouette, was the backbone of Scandinavian trans-European aviation at the time.
A beautiful and serene composition, the poster captures both Norway’s wilderness and the modern aviation spirit that DNL (Det Norske Luftfartselskap A/S) sought to promote under the slogan "Norway by Airway."
Condition:
Mounted on linen. Light overall discoloration and pinhole marks, otherwise very good for its age.
A rare and atmospheric piece of Norwegian aviation history.
