This is a stunning authentic antique poster designed by Wilhelm Kåge to promote the first Swedish solo exhibition of art photography by Doctor Henry Buergel Goodwin at Varia's art salon (Varias konstsalong) on Arsenalsgatan 8, Stockholm.
Henry Buergel Goodwin was a German-born Swedish photographer and linguist. Goodwin settled in Stockholm in 1914, where he decided to quickly become Sweden's leading photographer. He took portrait photos of Selma Lagerlöf, Gustaf Fröding, Greta Garbo and Ernest Thiel.
The 1915 exhibition strongly impressed the public and meant the definitive breakthrough for Goodwin as a leading photographer in Sweden for the next fifteen years.
The poster design is a "typical" Kåge design.
In excellent condition for its time. Light wear, tiny tears, fragile. A rare poster and important poster.
