Description:

This is an exquisite and highly collectible vintage poster for Swedish American Line, promoting transatlantic services between Gothenburg and New York. The shipping line was established in 1914 and began operating ocean liner service from Gothenburg to New York in 1915. The poster showcases the M.V. Kungsholm, one of the line's most prominent ships, built in 1928 by Blohm and Voss in Hamburg. By the time she was built, to be a motor ship (MS) rather than a steam ship (SS) was still highly innovative.

The poster features an impressive art deco design by Harry Hudson Rodmell, a well-known English painter and commercial artist who specialized in marine art. He studied at Hull School of Art and designed several ocean liner posters. The Swedish American Line poster captures the bow of the MS Kungsholm and her sister ship, creating a stunning and dynamic image.

This vintage poster is a true beauty, likely printed around 1928, and is a rare find for collectors. It is in very good condition, with only some minor dirt stains, and has been professionally mounted on linen with an acid-free barrier for preservation.
