This is an authentic Swedish poster issued in 1942 to promote the Third Defense Loan during World War II. The poster features the Swedish text: "Köp Tredje Försvarslånets Sparobligationer - De vaxa!" (Buy the Third Defense Loan Savings Bonds - They Grow!).
The Defense Loan consisted of three bond loans that the Swedish government initiated to raise funds from the public for upgrading the nation's defense during World War II. The loans were implemented in three stages between 1940 and 1942.
First Defense Loan: Completed on November 1, 1940, raising approximately SEK 800 million.
Second Defense Loan: Launched on January 15, 1941, and raised about SEK 610 million.
Third Defense Loan: Initiated in the spring of 1942, this loan gathered around SEK 915 million, with interest rates of 3.5% for 40 years or 3% for five years.
The poster shows signs of age, with pinholes in each corner, adding to its historical authenticity.
