This vintage poster, dating back to 1916, celebrates Swedish Flag Day. This was the inaugural year of this celebration, marked by an event at Stadium Skansen in Hasselbacken.
Swedish Flag Day, now known as the National Day of Sweden, is observed on 6 June and is a public holiday. Prior to 1983, it was celebrated as the Swedish Flag Day.
The poster is a creation of Gustaf Ankarcrona, a Swedish painter renowned for his contributions to historical and cultural preservation, particularly in Dalarna. His artwork often focused on rural themes, frequently set in winter landscapes.
The event occurred at Skansen, the first open-air museum and zoo in Sweden, situated on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, founded in 1891.
The poster is in good condition, with the exception of a couple of tears and minor edge wear. It would make an excellent addition to a framed collection.
